About me
A few fun facts:
I’m NYC-based, classically-trained actor with 25+ years of stage experience
I’m an Audie-nominated audiobook narrator with 125+ titles under my belt
I also have 50k+ TikTok followers who tune in to my live-stream recording sessions (only when granted permission)
Within my audiobook narrations, I love embodying a wide variety of badass heroes and heroines of all genders and backgrounds. As my Romance and Fantasy pseudonym Amelia Hugh, and as Amy Hutchins, I’ve played everything from grumpy Italian detectives to young adult Fantasy heroes to time-traveling romantics.
In addition to being an actor, I am also an accent and language nerd. I love performing in language-based plays, most notably gender-bending Shakespeare. I especially geek out when I need to learn a new dialect for a role or an audiobook.
I'm fluent in Spanish and I have a knack for picking up languages. I find that being able to talk to people across cultures opens up a world without barriers. I bring that spirit to my acting by voicing characters with a variety of languages and accents (Polish, Welsh, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Greek, among others). Give me an accent, and I can learn it in 24 hours. Give me a language, and I’ll be conversational in a month.
Whether immersing myself in an audiobook, a play, or foreign culture, I love the practice of putting myself in other people's shoes. At the heart of all of these is the human experience.
When I'm not in the booth or on stage, I enjoy cuddling with my Sphynx cats (Rye and Celia), cooking, and traveling.
(With Gina White, Jeremy Carlisle Parker, myself, and Khai Dattoli at the 2025 Audie Awards)
(With Michael Stewart Allen, Book of Will, Shakespeare Theatre of NJ, directed by Bonnie Monte)
(On vacation in Scotland, soaking up the accents)
